Powerglove, Turisas, & DragonForce – San Francisco – November 5th, 2008
Remarks: Unfortunately, like my previous journal entry, this one will be rather brief. Partly due to being a while ago and partly due to me not caring as much. I’m not a huge DragonForce fan – not one at all actually – but was went to enjoy the company of friends. And for Powerglove. I don’t even have setlists for the bands, but admittedly, I didn’t try very hard to find them. If someone wants to help out with that, it would be appreciated!
Powerglove was very entertaining to watch. They were all dressed up in viking style costumes and looked like they were having a blast up there. The drummer looked like he had big flag/banner type things attached to him while on the drum set; didn’t look like it would be fun to play in those. The tracks that I remember them playing were as follows, in no particular order:
They threw out plastic swords for us to fight with during Metal Kombat, as well as Starbursts for us to chew on throughout the show. Fun times.
Turisas was quite amusing. They seriously looked like vikings, face paint and all. A violin, an accordion, and battle metal; what more could you need?
DragonForce was very energetic. The keyboardist may very well have been on drugs, that guy was all over the place jumping up and down and such. And whoever thought of duct taping beer bottles to the mic stands and putting straws in them is a genius, why waste time holding the bottle when you could sip and shred at the same time? At some point, I got nailed in the head with a water bottle tossed by the singer. Many thanks, it was hot in there and I was getting thirsty! Good times all around though.
