“Learning Town” Sneak Peek
What happens when the a musical comedy duo take over a children’s puppet show in the vein of Sesame Street? Naturally, hilarity ensues! But don’t be fooled, this is not your average children’s show… nor is it meant for children.
Paul and Storm, a geeky musical comedy duo, have yet to find their audience. They’re still performing at bars for chump change to a handful of uninterested patrons. Their merch booth is run by an enthusiastic fan, but he also happens to be their only fan. But when a guest appearance on the long-running children’s show Learning Town puts them in the right place at the right time, they find themselves in a position to take the show in a direction nobody could have expected.
I had the privilege of previewing the first episode, and I can tell you the series is already gearing up to be a fun one. For those not familiar with Paul and Storm’s brand of comedy, you should prepare yourselves, because they will hit you when you least expect it. Their lyrics are clever and often silly (in the good way), witty retorts come out of nowhere, and they can do the simplest things in the most amusing ways. The dialogue and banter seems so natural, it’s like they’re barely acting at all. As if those two weren’t enough, we get just a small taste of what co-stars Mike Phirman and Bresha Webb will offer up in the episodes to come. Combine all that with a high production value and you’ll start to wish that you had this show to watch growing up.
Learning Town premiers January 15th, on Geek And Sundry.
